Fakémon 008 – Jekyaminon

I named Fakémon number 008 Jekyaminon. My cousin gave me this prompt of basically a sweet creature with a twist. If you can decipher the name origin, you might have an idea what it's based on. The answer will be at the end of this post so make your guesses now!

I find it funny that she pivoted away from a chameleon since she knew I did that one already but landed on quokka for part of it. She didn’t know I made a quokka and laughed so hard when I told her! Since both of those were taken, I decided to make this one a wombat.

I wanted this wombat to look like a gentleman so it has suit-like characteristics. I drew this a while ago so I can’t remember if the back pattern had meaning or if it was just to break up the blank space.

Side note: how cute is that baby wombat?

While lining, I know I added too many fur fluff details and went way too far into detailing the vine cane, even modifying an existing brush to fit my vision. I would refine and simplify those if I ever redesign this Fakémon.

The whole idea took me longer to figure out than I would've liked (I figured it out off-screen) but I do like where this one ended up.

Ready for the answer?

Answer:

Jekyaminon is based on the prompt, "I'm thinking a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde situation: but I couldn't decide if it should be its behavior that goes from nice to m*rdery or if that should happen in the evo! I was almost thinking a fire & ice chameleon but that's close to one you already have so I was also thinking quokka turned Tasmanian devil! lol.” (Creative wording, eh? Thanks ‘cuz! XD)

The name comes from Jekyll and yaminon, the name for the Northern hairy-nosed wombat.
